USING PUBLIC PHONES

Most public telephones take telephone cards in addition to 10 yen and 100 yen coins. Local calls are charged 10 yen, every 3 minutes, and change is not given. Telephone cards are convenient to use, and can be purchased at convenience stores for 1000 yen. How much credit you have left on your card is indicated when making your call. When making an overseas call, you'll need to use an international phone card - these can also be bought at most convenience stores. You will need to enter the country code, the local area code, and then the number when dialing.
